Ross McBride was born in the Northeastern United States in 1962. He came to Japan in 1985 to study graphic design at the Japan (Nihon) University Department of Art. Upon graduation, Ross worked in several design offices, and in 1991 went independent in order to establish his own graphic design studio. Gradually, Ross became more interested in product, furniture, and interior design, and by 1997 he began to move in this direction. In January 2000, Normal Y.K. was established in order to manage Ross's product and furniture projects. Postnormal is the framework through which he explores space design.
