Mika was born in Finland in 1975. After receiving his BA from the University of Art and Design, Helsinki in 1998 he worked with the design consultancy Muodos Oy.Going on to receive a degree from the Royal College of Art, London in 2002 he then worked briefly in the Tom Dixon's studio.He showed at the Milan Salone del Mobile in 2005 as a member of the 'Rehti' group.In 2015, he and his wife Julie Tolvanen founded Studio Tolvanen in Finland. Recent clients include FontanaArte, Muuto, Frag, Zanotta, E&Y, Offecct and KFF.In 2012 he received Bruno Mathsson award for his work.
