ILKKA SUPPANEN
FINLAND
Ilkka (born Kotka, Finland; 1968) studied architecture at the Technical University of Helsinki and design at both Helsinki's University of Art and Design, Helsinki and Amsterdam's Gerrit Rietveld Academy. In 1995 he founded Studio Ilkka Suppanen in Helsinki. The studio has worked for Cappellini, Proventus design, Snowcrash and Saab automobiles and received commissions for product and furniture design, architecture and consultancy projects. In 1998 he was nominated by Ettore Sotsass for the Dedalus prize for the most important designers under 40. His work has been exhibited worldwide including shows at the Venice Architecture Biennale and the MoMA. His work is part of the permanent collections of the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and the Museum fur Angewandte Kunst, Koln.
